THE ROCKSTAR SONG LIST

1/ Wannabe – Spice Girls

A fantastic song to perform with your own pop supergroup of friends, the opening line of “I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want” never fails to get everyone jumping. The tune is energetic and surprisingly easier than you think to pull off.

2/ Wonderwall – Oasis

A wonderfully easy song choice as it works as well when shouted, as well as sung. Wonderwall is fab for groups of mates wanting to do an all time legendary track. Best Liam Gallagher voices at the ready.

3/ Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey

If your heart doesn’t beat a little faster when you hear “Just a small town girl, livin’ in a looonely world, she took the midnight train going aaaaaanywhere” there is something truly wrong with you. What a tune to look back on and say, we didn’t quite match the journey, but ‘’don’t stop believin’’

4/ Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond

An excellent song to sing as a group, although neil went solo. Sweet Caroline is as much fun to perform with friends because you can take turns singing parts of the verse and chorus to make a wonderful medley of noise, I mean music.

5/ Dancing Queen – Abba

You’re never too old to get giddy with joy while singing along to Abba! It’s no wonder that this is still one of the most popular songs of all time for all ages. Easy to record and truly memorable.

6/ Build Me Up Buttercup – The Foundations

This song will promise to do two things: make everyone feel super happy, and make you sound pretty decent at singing. This is a fan’s favourite, being uplifting and feel good.

7/ I’m Too Sexy – Right Said Fred

Once again, it’s practically just talking. Also, the repetition here will make it easy to stay in the same key until the end. Sounds funny being sung by a group of friends, singing different parts. No one is too sexy for this number.

8/Don’t Stop Moving – S Club 7

The masters of child-friendly pop, most of the songs in the S Club 7 back catalogue make for a good cover track. Due to its upbeat, energetic tempo, Don’t Stop Moving is definitely an excellent choice.

10/ Rapper’s Delight – The Sugar Hill Gang

An absolute classic, and one that is quite forgiving for hip hop track novices – the mellow flows of Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank and Master Gee aren’t too difficult to sing along to.

9) Where is the love – Black Eyed Peas

The song that brought The Black Eyed Peas in to the musical mainstream, Where Is The Love still holds up as an absolute banger years and years after its release – and is the perfect choice for larger groups.

10) In Da Club – 50 Cent

If you’re going to perform a hip hop party anthem, it doesn’t get much better than the stand out single from 50 Cent’s debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. Any song that gets described by the usually austere BBC as “a spectacular party anthem” must be doing something right!

11) Hey Jude – The Beatles

A favourite of sports crowds up and down the country, Hey Jude’s outro is a wonderful excuse to shout Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah at your friends while performing this super iconic cover track by the legendary beatles.

12) YMCA – The Village People

Macho Man and In The Navy are other absolute classics from The Village People, but a round up of the greatest disco cover songs of all time that doesn’t include YMCA in the top 3 is quite simply wrong!

13/ Disco Inferno – The Trammps

Burn baby burn… it’s hard not to get fired up as soon as you hear the funky opening rhythm of Disco Inferno. Any song starring in Saturday Night Fever is definitely disco royalty! Super track for groups of mates who want to bring the heat.

14/ Stayin’ Alive – Bee Gees

What a band, what a song! This is a particularly fun one to perform a cover song to with a large group of friends – listening to yourselves fail miserably at matching Barry Gibb’s ridiculously high pitched singing voice never fails to raise a chuckle.

15) I’m Coming Out – Diana Ross

Speaking of disco divas, it doesn’t get much better than Diana Ross and her seminal disco power ballad I’m Coming Out. Nile Rodgers – one of the writers of I’m Coming Out – actually got the original idea for the song after seeing three drag queens dressed as Diana Ross at a nightclub in New York! Use our props and wigs for your group’s rendition.

16/ Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd

As soon as you hear that opening guitar riff there’s simply no resisting the fact that you’re about to start screaming about a county in America you’ve never visited.Or if you have lucky you. Make a memorable cover to this classic from the southern states.

17/ Hey Ma – Cam’ron

Released as the follow-up to Cam’ron’s successful single “Oh Boy,” “Hey Ma” followed that song’s success, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Reminisce about those days at school, college or uni rapping about the kind of things you do… I mean used to do.

18/ Parklife – Blur

Allllll the people in your group can go hand in hand singing this absolute britpop classic. Parklife has attained a cultural significance above and beyond its considerable sales and critical acclaim, cementing its status as a landmark in British rock music. Impossible not to get a laugh out of doing a cover to this tuuuune.

19/ All The Single Ladies: Beyoncé

This is her last time as a single lady, so this one is perfect for the gals (or boys) to get together and sing it if they are still single, or just wish to be. Joking aside, she has a ring on it and who doesn’t just love this track?!

20/ Jump Around – House Of Pain

This will certainly impress your wedding guests, when you perform this live at the reception on the big day.
Pack it up, pack it in, let me begin
I came to win, battle me, that’s a sin
You can’t help but jump up and down to this old skool banger.

21/ No Scrubs – TLC

No, I don’t want no scrub
A scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me
Hangin’ out the passenger side
Of his best friend’s ride
Trying to holla at me

Say no more, it’s you, your crew and you know what to do. Give this track some tlc, nah give this track some attitude.

22/ As Long As You Love Me – Backstreet Boys

This group rose to fame with their international debut album, Backstreet Boys. This one’s a favourite for both boys and girls. A singalong that everyone loves.
